Advanced Space Propulsion CISAS Propulsion Group
The experimental acitivities of the CISAS Propulsion Group in the frame of the hybrid rockets research are conducted in three different location:
-
Padova (Hypervelocity Impact Laboratory, via Venezia 59/4 int. F)
-
Rossano Veneto (VI): Small Rockets Lab
-
Soverzene (BL): Open Air Test Range
Hybrid Rockets Test Facilities

Padova lab hosts the first and preliminary experimental activities, conducted on single subsystems of the final hybrid rockets.
Examples:
-
injectors behavior
-
two-phase flow behavior
-
ignition substystem tests
-
fuel grains casting

The Small Rockets Lab is dedicated to the core of the experimental research activities, conducted on many different functional parameters of hybrid rockets:
-
oxidizer/fuel different configurations
-
ignition transient
-
oxidizer discharge behavior
-
materials characterization
-
long duration tests
In the Open Air Test Range full scale motors can be mounted and tested in full operative conditions. Typical activities concern the performance verification of engines in their final configuration, with a developed thrust of more than 20 kN.
